Union Market Drive-In

Union Market, 1309 5th Street NE 20002

The new Union Market opened in 2012, and in 2013 it began its annual drive-in. DC Rollergirls act as carhops, delivering concessions from the market’s stalls. Though it’s free for those without cars, people who prefer to drive are encouraged to book tickets in advance at the price of $10 per car.

Now in its fifth year, Golden Cinema is run by the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District, a non-profit dedicated to enhance quality of life in the Golden Triangle neighborhood, which stretches from the southern end of Dupont Circle to Pennsylvania Avenue.

Capitol Riverfront Outdoor Movie Series

Canal Park, 200 M Street SE, 20003

Canal Park sits on the site of the former Washington City Canal, which connected the Anacostia River to the National Mall. In the early 20th century, the canal was paved over. In 2010, construction began on Canal Street to build a park. Today, the environmentally-friendly Canal Park features an ice-skating rink during the winter and a dancing fountain in the summer, along with the outdoor movie series and other events.

Dumbarton House Jane Austen Film Festival

Dumbarton House, 2715 Q Street, NW

Dumbarton House is a federal-style mansion in Georgetown that dates back to 1799. It’s now a museum that shows what life was like in early 19th-century Washington. This is the 7th annual Jane Austen Film Festival.

Congressional Cemetery Cinematery

Congressional Cemetery; 1801 E Street, SE

Run by the Association for the Preservation of the Historic Congressional Cemetery in order to build community engagement with the historic burial ground, the four summer movie nights are just part of the long lineup of events and activities the cemetery has to offer. The four movies are all supernatural or spooky.
